Building a Quality Arizona

Planning Framework Recommendations

Sustainability and Environment

Arizonans have cited the natural environment as the state’s greatest asset. To maintain a setting in which people want to live, it is our responsibility to respect the reasons why people live here, and make decisions that reflect these intentions. Two-thirds of the development on the ground in 2050 will be built after 2007 based on current forecasts. It is only 2009 – we have an enormous opportunity to shape future growth. Will growth maintain the current pattern of development?  Or will it develop in a more focused land use pattern that allows more transportation options, and increased open space and environmental conservation?
