bqAZ: Building a Quality Arizona - Statewide Transportation Planning Framework identified a long-range rail vision for Arizona and a comprehensive list of strategic opportunities. The State Transportation Board accepted bqAZ in January 2010.

Rail Technical Advisory Team Presentation

The Arizona State Rail Plan is the next step in implementing the Statewide Rail Framework for passenger and freight rail transportation in Arizona. Building on the Statewide Rail Framework, the Plan will achieve the following objectives:

• Identify 20-year rail projects and initiatives.
• Prioritize rail investments that need to be made to achieve Arizona’s vision and goals.
• Develop the decision-making process for rail investments.

The State Rail Plan is coming summer 2010.

Rail Focus Groups

• Five focus groups will be held. The MPO/COGs helped to identify key stakeholders and partners to inform the State Rail Plan. The March focus groups will be the final series.
